Who I am.

Bayfield is the persona I adopted as a musician. I went through many changes in the way I make, mix and listen to music over past couple years and am finally feeling pretty confident with the sound I am producing. I don't stick to any one "genre" of music I guess you could say. Everything I make is heavily influenced by the musicians that have shaped my taste in music but I don't try to replicate any one artist. Its more an amalgamation of everything I enjoy in music.

Electronic music is advancing and changing at such a rapid rate that you kind of have to find your own niche and forget what the trends are. Following the trends will just get you lost in the huge amount of "artists" seeking fame, who are not necessarily trying to carve their own path in music but rather cut into someone else's and catch some of the glory.

For now I am just doing what I enjoy and making music that I feel represents me personally. I appreciate all the criticism and compliments I can get. At the moment everything I do is free for anyone, I just ask people to share it around if they enjoy it.

Cheers,

Bayfield

My Greatest Influences.
Derek Vincent Smith (aka Pretty Lights)

Pretty Lights has been one the biggest influences on me as an artist. I love everything he has done since almost the very beginning. His way of putting out all his music for free and still managing to be one of the most influential people in electronic music is amazing and really empowering to me. The creativity in his style is inspiring and I would do almost anything to have the chance to sit down and chat with him about his life in music. You could call me a fan boy I do buy anything Pretty Lights that I can afford...

Joe and Bryce (aka Coyote Kisses)

Coyote Kisses constantly blow me away with their releases and the creativity and uniqueness to their sound is astounding. I love pretty much everything they have ever made and have played their songs in my sets countless times. These guys are stepping outside the box and doing great things for electronic music in my opinion. I strive to be able to make a mark in the music industry like these two and to possess the talent that is quite apparent that they have.

Josh Gard (aka Figure)

Figure is in my mind the undisputed "King of Drumstep" and the almighty lord of monsters. His style of bass music hooked me instantly when I first was introduced to the heavy side. The "Monsters of Drumstep" series will always be one of my favorites. I go out of my way every time to see this man perform and its totally worth it. I wish more artists brought to the bass table what Figure does.
